Powder. Jinx. A name that has everyone in Piltover trembling and Zaun in complete disarray. Now let’s take a closer look at who this enigmatic character is in Arcane and League of Legends.
Jinx in Arcane Season 2
With Silco gone, Jinx finds herself in the middle of escalating conflict. After her recent outburst at the Piltover Council, she’s become public enemy number one, and the chem-barons are eager to capture her and turn her over to the Enforcers. In Season 2, however, Jinx gains some allies, including Sevika and a young girl named Isha.
On the other hand, Vi, who is now working with the Enforcers, has taken drastic measures, including burning down the old arcade where she and Powder used to spend much of their time. This act enrages Jinx, who, instead of directly fighting Caitlyn’s Enforcer squad, avoids them. During this time, she encounters the chem-baron Smeech.
Determined to capture her, Smeech confronts Jinx. After a brief struggle, Sevika intervenes, killing Smeech to prevent Jinx’s capture. In the third episode, Caitlyn and Vi engage in a fierce battle against Jinx and Sevika. Driven by the loss of her mother, Caitlyn manages to shoot off one of Jinx’s fingers. This injury enables Sevika to release a dangerous toxin known as “Zaun Gray” in Piltover, and with Jinx’s help, the city’s smog takes on a sinister neon pink and blue hue. Once again, Jinx’s chaotic nature throws Piltover into turmoil.
Vi / Jinx in Arcane Season 1
Before she became Jinx, she was Powder—a fragile, innocent girl orphaned by the conflict between Piltover and Zaun. Vander, known as the Hound of the Undercity, adopted Powder and her sister Vi, along with Mylo and Claggor. The children planned a heist, unaware that the lab they targeted belonged to the Piltover scientist Jayce Kiramman. Powder, intrigued by mysterious Hex crystals she found, took some with her. During their escape, Powder discarded her loot, leading Mylo to call her a “jinx.”
Desperate to rescue Vi from Silco and free Vander, Powder built a bomb using one of the Hex crystals. Tragically, the device exploded, killing Mylo and Claggor, and leaving Vi devastated. When an Enforcer took Vi away, Powder was left alone—until Silco arrived and took her in, molding her into the unpredictable Jinx.
Years later, Jinx fully embraced her new identity, facing off against Vi, who had joined Caitlyn’s team as a Piltover Enforcer. Jinx’s actions grew even more lethal, with explosive butterflies unleashed on the Bridge of Progress. In a fierce encounter, she was severely injured by Ekko, leader of the Firelights. Silco had her revived by Singed, who injected her with Shimmer, enhancing her power but causing intense pain.
The season finale saw Jinx host a twisted tea party with Vi, Caitlyn, and Silco. Overcome with emotion, she ultimately killed Silco and aimed a rocket at the Piltover Council, ending Season 1 with a literal bang.
Jinx in League of Legends
Jinx, also known as “The Loose Cannon,” was introduced to League of Legends on October 10, 2013. As a marksman champion, Jinx revels in chaos. She wields a machine gun named Pow-Pow and a rocket launcher called Fishbones. Her ultimate ability, “Super Mega Death Rocket,” unleashes a massive rocket, much like her final move in Arcane Season 1.
In the game, Jinx’s passive ability, “Get Excited,” gives her a significant boost in movement and attack speed whenever she kills an enemy or destroys a structure. As an AD Carry, Jinx is primarily played in the bottom lane, appealing to fans who enjoy the chaos she brings to both Piltover and the battlefield.
