After defeating Gen.G 3-1 in the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs upper bracket final, T1 has secured their place in the upcoming 2023 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
This marks T1’s fourth consecutive LCK split final appearance and their fourth consecutive international tournament participation.
Except for the third game, T1 controlled the match. In the first game, top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je’s assertive performance as Jayce ensured T1’s victory. In game two, bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong led the team to victory with 12 kills as Aphelios, while mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok carried the latter half of game three with an unexpected Jayce mid pick.
Following the game, T1’s Head Coach, Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong, stated in a press conference that the match against Gen.G went more smoothly than anticipated, especially after a challenging match against KT.
T1’s support, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, who will also be participating in his fourth international tournament, shared similar thoughts on the team’s performance against Gen.G. He said he wasn’t too concerned about them, particularly after seeing their draft picks. However, he provided an intriguing response regarding the support player he wishes to face in the final.
T1 Keria has one LCK support player he really wants to face
Keria mentioned he didn’t have anyone specific in mind, but his answer would have been different if it were DRX’s support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee.
In a recent Korizon interview, Keria discussed BeryL’s skill in utilizing tanks as support. He observed that champions like Rakan and Nautilus have recently received buffs, making them stronger than before.
Keria expressed amazement at the newfound strength of these champions and believes BeryL’s playstyle is particularly well-suited for them.
BeryL, a member of DRX, did not qualify for the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs. However, he defeated Keria in the Worlds 2022 final 3-2 while on the same organization, a loss that still haunts Keria.
Emotional on stage, Keria admits that he still thinks about the finals match against DRX and how it could have unfolded differently if he had played differently.
Despite the devastating loss, Keria remains focused on achieving success and proving himself in the upcoming MSI. With T1’s powerful performance and his unwavering determination, this will be his best opportunity for redemption, although this time without BeryL waiting for him on the other side.
