As the first major region to begin the Spring season, the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) in China has completed ten weeks of regular season play. With 17 teams competing in best-of-three matches, the LPL Spring 2023 Playoffs are set to begin.
This year’s playoffs will crown not just one, but two winners. Both LPL teams will represent the region at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2023, which introduces a Play-In Stage and Bracket Stage with a double-elimination format. All major regions have been granted two slots, promising twice the excitement.
Top 10 Teams Heading to LPL Spring 2023 Playoffs
Out of the 17 participating esports organizations, only the top 10 will advance to the playoffs. The format adopted in 2021 includes a king of the hill stage followed by a double-elimination bracket. Teams’ regular-season performance determines their seeding.
Edward Gaming, the Worlds 2021 champions, experienced significant roster changes during the offseason. However, with remaining players Zhao “Jiejie” Li-Jie and Tian “Meiko” Ye, the team still holds strong.
JD Gaming, known for their impressive performance at Worlds 2020 and 2022, strengthened their lineup by bringing in Korean bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk to replace Wang “Hope” Jie.
