The upcoming season introduces a comprehensive competitive rework.
The traditional method of requiring five wins or 15 losses for rank adjustment has been removed. Now, players will see their rank updated after every match, represented through a new progress bar. This real-time ranking update means players can immediately move up or down the ladder, adding dynamism to the competitive play.
Additionally, Season 9 will feature a rank reset and bring back the placement matches.
While this is not a full MMR reset, it represents a considerable shift in determining players’ initial rankings, with placement matches having greater influence.
A major highlight of the new season is the introduction of an “Ultimate” rank, sitting above the existing Grandmaster tier.
This provides an aspirational goal for top-tier players, further expanding the competitive landscape.
Emerald weapons, a novel competitive reward, also make their debut in Season 9.
Players can earn these through the new competitive points system, adding a fresh layer of rewards to the game. The pre-existing competitive points are being converted into a legacy currency, still usable for gold weapons.
