When DK left Worlds, Lucid looks back at the series and his team’s performance.
Q: This was your first time at Worlds. How do you feel, and where do you believe your team can be more effective?
Lucid: “At the moment, the largest emotion is disappointment. I think there is a lot that we have taken from this Worlds experience but it is bitter-sweet because we are going home earlier than we wanted. With all that we have taken, I think we could have done much more and that is why our elimination is so painful. The emphasis is now placed on performing even better the next time round.”
Q: In Game 3, you committed to Yone early. Was there any consideration of twitting him to top lane, and why did you decide to go with Gragas?
Lucid: No, we didn’t plan on flexing Yone. When we saw that Gnar was on the other team, we chose Gragas. We think that Kingen is great on Gragas, particularly when it comes to generating the big play. That is why we made that decision.”
Some thoughts on the series against Weibo Gaming
Q: What do you think of the series against Weibo Gaming in general? And who do you think will be the champion this year?
Lucid: There was a lot of slip ups on both sides during the series. I thought it would be more of a battle of who made the least amount of errors. Sadly, we were not that team today. Regarding Worlds, I think that an LCK team will be the winner.”
Q: DK began well in the Swiss Stage with two wins out of two against two Western teams and narrowly missing the playoffs. What do you think happened after that good beginning?
Lucid: “It has been a problem we have been facing, and it is something that we have attempted to solve up to today. That is why it is rather disappointing that we could not address those problems before. I think that is probably the biggest reason things went south for us.”
Q: What were the main errors in this series that led to your defeat?
Lucid: “In Game 2 we made several mistakes, especially around the void fight, and we lost too many drakes.” These mistakes cost us and the flow was taken to Game 3 where more things went wrong. We had a bad fight for the voids and some mistakes in the lanes and that is how the game got out of hand.”
Q: Before we get into that, can we discuss your duo queue on EUW with ShowMaker in a lighter vein? Each time you begin a match, you type in the all-chat, ‘Do you know ShowMaker?’ Is that just a bit of fun or is there more to it?
Lucid: Laughs “Well, it is all in fun.” Everybody knows ShowMaker everywhere, so I just like to be funny and make people laugh. That is why I have fun with him and I believe that it makes the games more interesting.”
