Apeks has emerged victorious in the European closed qualifier, clinching a coveted spot for the upcoming IEM Sydney 2023.
Their journey to qualification was marked by intense matches and nail-biting moments.
Apeks faced stiff competition throughout the European qualifier.
They overcame the surprise team, knasigT, in a match that required three overtimes across two maps. Their resilience was further tested against BetBoom, where they mounted a comeback from a 0-1 series deficit and a 6-10 score on the second map. Their final challenge was against 9INE, where they managed to turn around a 9-14 deficit, enduring two more overtimes to secure their place at the $250,000 event.
Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad showcased exceptional skills throughout the qualifier. Averaging a commendable 1.32 rating, the Norwegian player’s contributions were pivotal to Apeks’ success.
The event, scheduled from October 16-22, will feature some of the world’s top teams.
This includes four of the current top five teams: Vitality, ENCE, G2, and FaZe. With just three more spots up for grabs, the competition is heating up. Notably, 9INE will be facing BetBoom for another spot in the European qualifier.
In the Asian qualifier, Lynn Vision is set to face the winner of the match between TheMongolz and 5yclone. Meanwhile, in the North American qualifier, teams like Complexity, Forsaken, M80, and Nouns are vying for the final spot.
